To enhance energy reliability and optimize operating costs, Comking Electric provided an integrated PV-BESS-DG Hybrid Microgrid Solution for a mining site in Nasarawa State, Nigeria.
By combining renewable energy generation, battery energy storage, backup power generation, and intelligent energy management technology, the solution enables a more flexible and resilient power supply for industrial operations.

- 8MW Diesel Generation System (4 × 2MW DG Sets, including one standby unit).
- Intelligent Energy Management System (EMS).
The integrated solution enables coordinated operation among renewable generation, energy storage, and conventional power sources, improving energy utilization and enhancing power supply reliability for mining operations.

► Intelligent Energy Management and Operation
The hybrid microgrid operates through an intelligent EMS-based control strategy:
- During normal operation, solar energy contributes to onsite electricity consumption while the battery system maintains backup readiness.
- During grid interruptions, the BESS enables rapid transition to critical loads within 20ms, helping maintain continuous operation of essential equipment.
- When battery capacity reaches a predefined level, the EMS automatically starts diesel generators and optimizes power generation efficiency.
- After grid power is restored, the system smoothly returns to normal operating mode.
